The Ninja AutoBarista Pro makes espresso, filter coffee, and cold brew
Ninja has launched the AutoBarista Pro in the Netherlands and Belgium. The automatic coffee machine combines espresso, filter coffee, and quick cold brew in a single device and offers thirteen beverage programs.
The machine automatically handles grinding, dosing, brewing, and frothing. Users can choose from five milk settings, suitable for hot and cold beverages made with dairy or plant-based alternatives. Two personal profiles save preferences for strength, size, temperature, and froth style, among other settings.
A notable feature is the two interchangeable bean hoppers, each holding 340 grams. This allows you to switch between regular and decaf beans, for example. The machine can also brew two espressos at once and comes with a 1.2-liter thermal carafe.
The Ninja AutoBarista Pro, model AE1052EU, is available for €899.99.

Groundswell visits a Colombian Nespresso coffee farm
The documentary *Groundswell* follows pioneers who are using regenerative agriculture to restore farmland. For the film, directors Rebecca Harrell Tickell and Josh Tickell visited, among other places, Ruben Agudelo’s Colombian coffee farm, which has been participating in Nespresso’s agricultural program for twenty years.
On his two-hectare farm, Agudelo demonstrates how practices such as composting, the use of organic fertilizers, and planting shade trees can contribute to healthier soil and greater biodiversity. Coffee thus serves as a gateway to a broader narrative about the relationship between soil, food production, and climate.
Nespresso states that 85 percent of the green coffee it sources through its own program now comes from farms that use regenerative farming methods. The documentary has been available in the Netherlands on Amazon Prime Video since June 5, 2026.

OpenLot is hosting an Indian coffee tasting event
On July 16, 2026, OpenLot will host the “Indian Coffee Journey: Beyond Blends and Dark Roasts” tasting event at Ikinari Coffee in Amsterdam. The event will focus on the development of new Indian coffees, rather than the dark roasts and traditional blends that most people are familiar with.
Coffee from India is increasingly being processed and marketed in new ways. Producers are experimenting with unique varieties, new processing methods, and fine robusta: robusta coffee that is evaluated for quality and flavor using an approach similar to that used for specialty arabica.
The program includes a blind cupping, live brewing, and a “Truth Box,” where participants can provide anonymous feedback. The event is designed for both professionals looking for new coffees and enthusiasts who want to expand their sensory knowledge.
The tasting will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Space is limited.

Philips Introduces Baristina Latte for Milk-Based Coffee at Home
Philips is expanding its Baristina line with the Baristina Latte. The machine combines the existing method of brewing freshly ground espresso with an automatic system for heating and frothing milk.
The milk frother has three settings: hot milk foam, cold milk foam, and hot milk. Plant-based alternatives such as oat, soy, and almond milk can also be used, although the final foam result depends in part on the composition of the beverage chosen.
The coffee machine grinds the beans just before use and operates at a pressure of 16 bar. The controls are intentionally simple: the user places the portafilter in position, selects a brew option, and moves the lever to the brewing position in a single motion.
The Philips Baristina Latte is available at select retailers and online, with a suggested retail price of €479.99.
