During the finals of the Dutch Coffee Championships—organized by the SCA—the 2026 Dutch coffee champions were announced this week. The championships once again showcased the high standard and breadth of the Dutch coffee scene. The winners will represent the Netherlands later this year at the international World Championships.

Dutch Barista Championship

The Barista Championship was won by Siebe Stinis of Friedhats Coffee Roasters. In his final performance, Stinis took the jury along on a personal and carefully constructed narrative, in which the sensory experience took center stage.

He opened his routine with a reference to a memory of a raspberry sour beer he once drank in an Amsterdam café. That experience served as the starting point for his competition presentation and his quest for coffees with similar flavor notes. Building upon that narrative, he structured his set methodically: he began with his signature drink, followed by the milk-based beverage segment, and concluded with espresso.

For his espresso, Stinis chose a Geisha coffee from Auromar Geisha, which he personally selected in Panama. For the milk-based beverage component, he worked with a blend of 80 percent Panama Geisha and 20 percent yeast-fermented Chiroso, sourced from producer Franky Hoyos of El Encanto. The judges appreciated the coherence between the narrative, the coffee selection, and the execution.

With this victory, Siebe Stinis will represent the Netherlands at the World Barista Championship, which takes place from October 23 to 25 in Panama City.

Cup Tasters Championship

The Cup Tasters Championship featured a thrilling final in which the standard of competition was exceptionally high. During the contest, several baristas managed to achieve the maximum score of eight correct cups. Consequently, it was not merely tasting proficiency—but above all, time—that proved decisive: every second counted. This discipline is all about speed and sensory acuity.

The title ultimately went to Vicky Cheng, representing Fufu Coffee Studio and Mellow Coffee Roasters. Throughout the competition day, Cheng distinguished herself by misidentifying only one coffee—an achievement that secured her a convincing victory. She will represent the Netherlands from May 7 to 9 at the World Cup Tasters Championship during World of Coffee in Bangkok.

Latte Art Championship

The Latte Art Championship has once again been won this year by Bram Dekker. With this victory, he successfully defends his title and can call himself the Dutch Latte Art Champion for the second consecutive year.

“To stand out, you really have to develop your own style,” says Bram. To this end, he has drawn inspiration from latte art artists for years, pouring figures that he genuinely enjoys. During his preparation and participation, he was supported by his coach, Kaspar Tammjärv of Footnote Coffee, as well as by his partner and Zuivelrijck.

With his victory, Bram Dekker will represent the Netherlands at the World Latte Art Championship, which takes place from April 10 to 12 during World of Coffee in San Diego.

Brewers Cup Championship

De Brewers Cup is gewonnen door Mik (@yellow_coat_boi). Voor zijn winnende brew werkte Mik met een blend van twee koffies uit dezelfde regio in Colombia. De koffies waren afkomstig van producenten Diego Bermudez en Wilder Lazo. Hoewel verschillend van karakter, vulden de koffies elkaar perfect aan in de uiteindelijke extractie.

Despite a technical setback behind the scenes—torn paper filters during the brewing process—he managed to convince the jury. His performance was evaluated based on recipe development, technical execution, and the translation of his choices into the cup profile.

The standard at the Brewers Cup was high. The participants visibly paid close attention to water recipes, brewing methods, and the personal stories behind their coffee.

The Brewers Cup World Final takes place during World of Coffee from June 25 to 27 in Brussels.
