You can look at coffee at events in two ways: as a logistical problem, or as an opportunity to create something that people remember. Baristocrats chose the latter, and built a mobile coffee bar based on the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

With the introduction of a mobile coffee bar based on the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, Baristocrats is taking the next step in what coffee on location can look like. According to the company, this is the first coffee cart built on this platform.

Standing out is allowed

Where a coffee cart rental has traditionally been mostly about functionality, coffee has to come out and fast, the focus is slowly shifting. The appearance of the bar itself is increasingly becoming part of the event. Not something you put away in the back, but an element to be seen.

The choice of the ID. Buzz aligns well with this. The design is recognizable and attracts attention, while the size remains compact enough for practical use. Thus, the mobile coffee bar functions not only as a coffee station, but also as a visual part of the total event experience.

Baristocrats has since deployed the coffee cart at FIBA 3×3 sporting events, at the NDSM wharf and during Hello Tomorrow, among others. In that context, it appears that clients hiring a mobile coffee bar or looking for a barista on location are increasingly paying attention to charisma and story, not just capacity.

Challenges

For a coffee event in Berlin, Bart from Baristocrats drove the ID. Buzz through winter conditions. Outside minus five degrees, inside a schedule that made no allowance for cold, charging stations or reality.

“You think: electric driving, we’ll take care of that,” says Bart. “Until you’re standing somewhere with -5 and your battery is suddenly a lot less enthusiastic than you are. But fair is fair, that also makes it immediately more fun. You’re not just making coffee, you’re inventing something new.”

That combination of experimentation and execution seems to be exactly where the development of mobile coffee concepts is right now. Not just serving coffee, but consciously thinking about how and with what you do it.

With this coffee cart, Baristocrats shows that the demand for an on-site mobile coffee bar or barista is not only growing, but changing.
